This is some of the funniest stuff I’ve seen on the Internet in years.
Sean Tejaratchi (@ShittingtonUK on Twitter), maybe best-known for his magazine Crap Hound (which is unrelated to the Cory Doctorow blog with the same name), creates fake ads and book covers. They are in the same vein as SomethingAwful’s Photoshop Phriday (which is still around, believe it or don’t) although a bit more absurd and a bit less 4chan-y.
Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.
Garfield is a comic strip by Jim Davis, who seems like a pretty good guy.
A Markov chain is a probabilistic model well suited to semi-coherent text synthesis.
Garkov is an application of the Markov model to transcripts of old Garfield strips, plus some extra code to make it all look like a genuine comic strip. Feel free to screenshot and share Garkov output.
One of Dave Rapoza’s comics. A bit like Oglaf but not as polished or quite as ribald. But funny and worth a few minutes. I don’t know why “comics with sexual themes set in the time of Conan the Barbarian” is a thing.… Read the rest
