Mead Orchards

“Mead Orchards is our family’s picturesque, 180-acre fruit orchard and vegetable farm, located in the beautiful Mid-Hudson River Valley of New York! We’ve been here since 1916, and now grow nearly 40 varieties of apples, as well as peaches, pears, plums, cherries, strawberries and other berries. We also grow a wide variety of delicious greens, summer vegetables, winter squashes, pumpkins, and decorative gourds.

On Weekends during the harvest season (plus the national Monday holidays of Labor Day and Columbus Day), some of our fruits and berries are available for you to “pick-your-own.” We also bring our produce to several farmers markets throughout the week. We’re located about 100 miles north of Manhattan, 50 miles south of Albany, and just 4 miles east of the Hudson River.”

Wilklow Orchards

“Our family has been farming this land for six generations — since 1855, and as times have changed, so have we. My husband, Fred, and I have been going to Greenmarket in Brooklyn, NY since 1984, and with the help of our four children, we also started pick-your-own apples at our home farm.

Both our families help make our place something different than the rest. Fred’s mom (Grandma Apple) makes all our homemade jams and jellies. His father, when not in the field is sometimes making cider or doing the weekend hayrides. My mom does all the homemade breads and muffins, while my dad is the gopher. My sister, Dorothy is my right-hand person and helps with everything I do.

What we are saying is that we are a family farm. All of us at Wilklow Orchards would like to invite you to spend a day at our farm.

During the months of September and October* you can enjoy a day in the country and pick your own apples on our upstate, Hudson Valley farm. We are sure you will enjoy harvesting your own apples. You can’t find fresher apples than those you pick yourself!

So come to our farm and enjoy this year’s harvest of apples, pumpkins, fresh-pressed cider and the autumn mums. Picnic beneath the apple trees and bring the kids. There’ll be a hayjump, farm animals to pet, hot apple cider and hayrides.

Make a day of it! Enjoy the beautiful country of Wilklow Orchards.
